it's been awhile...

So a lot has changed since I last blogged :). I saw something on the internet and I thought I would give it a try. It's kind of like one of those Christmas letters you get from your Aunt and Uncle...only I'm writing it to myself. Since I know I don't have the time to manage this weekly or even monthly...let's shoot for annually. We recently had some family photos taken by our favorite photog Amanda McQuade (she's did our first family photos just before Jameson's first birthday). Anyway, some of the photos she took explain our kid's personalities to a tee!  Here are a few of my faves and a short little bio of each of us at this phase of our life. Enjoy.
Jameson Mae

My sweet, sweet, firstborn. Jameson is 5 years old and will start Kindegarten this fall. She is the perfect combination of sweet and sassy. She is petite but growing proportionally and they predict her height to be 5'-2" (I think she will be taller). She prefers a single pony-tail to braids. Her favorite colors are pink, purple, and teal AND she has a sweet tooth like no other! She likes to draw and color and is constantly into my Sharpie stash. She definitely has the older sister gig down and barks her orders at the younger ones (and Mom and Dad). I know everyone says this but she is soooo smart. Like not just book smart...she asks so many questions and we don't really hold back the truth. We tell her what she needs to know and she infers the rest. I don't expect her to believe in Santa for more than a couple more years. Nothing gets by her.

I love hanging out with this mini-person. She is my errand girl and we escape to Target and Publix as often as we can. Jameson is on her 3rd year of dance, her first year of gymnastics and will probably add swimming into the mix this spring. To her father's dismay she is not interested in playing soccer. If you ask me, she is being stubborn and knows how badly he wants her to play. Since I don't want to guilt my kids into hobbies they detest I'm quite happy with her dance and gymnastics choices and will proudly be a dance mom if that is what she chooses. Sorry Will :)
I love this sweet girl and I can't wait to see what starting big girl school will bring to her personality.

Max Johan
Oh my heavens where do I even start with this sweet angel. He is our Sour Patch baby. First he's sour and then he's sweet. Max is our prince and has been from day one. I would let him get away with anything if Will let me. He is every bit of 2 and a half. He is THE SWEETEST big brother to Georgie and a monster of a little brother to Jameson. He loves as hard as he plays. He is the last to go to bed and the first to rise. I think he would stay up all day and night if we let him.

Max loves Spiderman and all things superheros. He fights with his big sister but wants to do everything she does...which is why they fight :) Unlike Jameson, he loves to play soccer and swim. He can charm the pants off anyone (I just realized what that saying means...weird to use here but I don't know what else to say). He has the best little quirks and mannerisms. I hope we never forget this age.

This baby affectionately goes by the name Smooch and will even give me one on command. He is a great snuggler and we know this because he hasn't slept alone since the day he was born. I know I'll miss that soon so for now, he wins. We'll sleep when we're 40. He wakes up from naps shy and clingy and then immediately transforms into our performer ham...jumping off couches and doing super-action moves. He can't keep his hands off Georgia...in a good way...and is constantly being told to "be gentle to Georgie". He loves her so much. I am dreading the day he doesn't want to hold my hand or stops asking "Mommy, will you lay me?". A hundred times YES, I will lay with you sweet baby!

Stay cool, Maxie!

Georgia Jean-Marie

Georgie, the perfect addition to this crazy-train. She is the most kissable baby on the face of the earth. Just ask her father, who DOES.NOT.STOP kissing her cheeks. I have to tell him 30 times a day to stop kissing her or she is going to get sick. And bless her precious heart...she gets sick every time. This little cherub is almost 6 months old and headed for tubes just like her siblings. You would never even know she is in constant pain from ear infections from the look on her face. Although, the photo above looks more like the face when she is being poked by her brother.

She is jokingly referred to as our "best baby" since our older ones are doing something naughty at any given minute. I can tell she is dying to be "big" and to play with them. She watches them and smiles at them constantly. Georgia's official nickname is Memow (and hopefully referred to as this forever). When we first got her, as Jameson says...as if we got her from the store, she had the smallest little cry. She sounded like a baby cat. One day we were doing animal sounds with Max and asked him what a cat says. He said "a cat says, MEMOOOW" and when I jokingly asked what a Georgie says he also said "MEMOOOW". And thus she became Memow.

Everyone knows that Will had to talk me into a 3rd baby. So to him this is HIS baby. And this baby thinks he's right. Georgie is literally an extension of his body. Unlike with the other 2 kids Will got to spend 7 weeks of paternity leave with this nugget. They napped, watched TV and napped more. They were living their best life. I've never seen someone so sad (besides me) to have to go back to work.

Georgie, you are so loved that I could cry just looking at you. We can't wait to see what your little personality grows into but you will be the baby-baby forever!

Mom & Dad

In the interest of time...I will keep this one short. We are tired, out of shape, busy and did I already say tired? But we are happy. Work is hard and we don't have too much time for play but we know we will get there. We could definitely use more date nights and individual me-time. Looking at you grandparents ;)

Will has scaled back at work while we try to figure out life with 3 kids and I work from home which is beyond helpful. Someone is always outnumbered so our divide-and-conquer tactic that worked with 2 kids sometimes blows up in our face. Only time will tell if it gets better or crazier...please lord, let it be better (haaa). Until then we will keep up our day to day and cherish our time together. Weekdays are spent going to dance/soccer/gymnastics and weekends are spent lounging. We try to fit in the fun stuff where we can like weekend shows in CLT, beach trips, and I'm reeeally pushing for annual Disney trips....gotta have something to look forward to! Our days are long but we wouldn't trade them for anything.

Love,
The Novas
