it's been awhile...

So a lot has changed since I last blogged :). I saw something on the internet and I thought I would give it a try. It's kind of like one of those Christmas letters you get from your Aunt and Uncle...only I'm writing it to myself. Since I know I don't have the time to manage this weekly or even monthly...let's shoot for annually. We recently had some family photos taken by our favorite photog Amanda McQuade (she's did our first family photos just before Jameson's first birthday). Anyway, some of the photos she took explain our kid's personalities to a tee!  Here are a few of my faves and a short little bio of each of us at this phase of our life. Enjoy.
Jameson Mae

My sweet, sweet, firstborn. Jameson is 5 years old and will start Kindegarten this fall. She is the perfect combination of sweet and sassy. She is petite but growing proportionally and they predict her height to be 5'-2" (I think she will be taller). She prefers a single pony-tail to braids. Her favorite colors are pink, purple, and teal AND she has a sweet tooth like no other! She likes to draw and color and is constantly into my Sharpie stash. She definitely has the older sister gig down and barks her orders at the younger ones (and Mom and Dad). I know everyone says this but she is soooo smart. Like not just book smart...she asks so many questions and we don't really hold back the truth. We tell her what she needs to know and she infers the rest. I don't expect her to believe in Santa for more than a couple more years. Nothing gets by her.

I love hanging out with this mini-person. She is my errand girl and we escape to Target and Publix as often as we can. Jameson is on her 3rd year of dance, her first year of gymnastics and will probably add swimming into the mix this spring. To her father's dismay she is not interested in playing soccer. If you ask me, she is being stubborn and knows how badly he wants her to play. Since I don't want to guilt my kids into hobbies they detest I'm quite happy with her dance and gymnastics choices and will proudly be a dance mom if that is what she chooses. Sorry Will :)
I love this sweet girl and I can't wait to see what starting big girl school will bring to her personality.

Max Johan
Oh my heavens where do I even start with this sweet angel. He is our Sour Patch baby. First he's sour and then he's sweet. Max is our prince and has been from day one. I would let him get away with anything if Will let me. He is every bit of 2 and a half. He is THE SWEETEST big brother to Georgie and a monster of a little brother to Jameson. He loves as hard as he plays. He is the last to go to bed and the first to rise. I think he would stay up all day and night if we let him.

Max loves Spiderman and all things superheros. He fights with his big sister but wants to do everything she does...which is why they fight :) Unlike Jameson, he loves to play soccer and swim. He can charm the pants off anyone (I just realized what that saying means...weird to use here but I don't know what else to say). He has the best little quirks and mannerisms. I hope we never forget this age.

This baby affectionately goes by the name Smooch and will even give me one on command. He is a great snuggler and we know this because he hasn't slept alone since the day he was born. I know I'll miss that soon so for now, he wins. We'll sleep when we're 40. He wakes up from naps shy and clingy and then immediately transforms into our performer ham...jumping off couches and doing super-action moves. He can't keep his hands off Georgia...in a good way...and is constantly being told to "be gentle to Georgie". He loves her so much. I am dreading the day he doesn't want to hold my hand or stops asking "Mommy, will you lay me?". A hundred times YES, I will lay with you sweet baby!

Stay cool, Maxie!

Georgia Jean-Marie

Georgie, the perfect addition to this crazy-train. She is the most kissable baby on the face of the earth. Just ask her father, who DOES.NOT.STOP kissing her cheeks. I have to tell him 30 times a day to stop kissing her or she is going to get sick. And bless her precious heart...she gets sick every time. This little cherub is almost 6 months old and headed for tubes just like her siblings. You would never even know she is in constant pain from ear infections from the look on her face. Although, the photo above looks more like the face when she is being poked by her brother.

She is jokingly referred to as our "best baby" since our older ones are doing something naughty at any given minute. I can tell she is dying to be "big" and to play with them. She watches them and smiles at them constantly. Georgia's official nickname is Memow (and hopefully referred to as this forever). When we first got her, as Jameson says...as if we got her from the store, she had the smallest little cry. She sounded like a baby cat. One day we were doing animal sounds with Max and asked him what a cat says. He said "a cat says, MEMOOOW" and when I jokingly asked what a Georgie says he also said "MEMOOOW". And thus she became Memow.

Everyone knows that Will had to talk me into a 3rd baby. So to him this is HIS baby. And this baby thinks he's right. Georgie is literally an extension of his body. Unlike with the other 2 kids Will got to spend 7 weeks of paternity leave with this nugget. They napped, watched TV and napped more. They were living their best life. I've never seen someone so sad (besides me) to have to go back to work.

Georgie, you are so loved that I could cry just looking at you. We can't wait to see what your little personality grows into but you will be the baby-baby forever!

Mom & Dad

In the interest of time...I will keep this one short. We are tired, out of shape, busy and did I already say tired? But we are happy. Work is hard and we don't have too much time for play but we know we will get there. We could definitely use more date nights and individual me-time. Looking at you grandparents ;)

Will has scaled back at work while we try to figure out life with 3 kids and I work from home which is beyond helpful. Someone is always outnumbered so our divide-and-conquer tactic that worked with 2 kids sometimes blows up in our face. Only time will tell if it gets better or crazier...please lord, let it be better (haaa). Until then we will keep up our day to day and cherish our time together. Weekdays are spent going to dance/soccer/gymnastics and weekends are spent lounging. We try to fit in the fun stuff where we can like weekend shows in CLT, beach trips, and I'm reeeally pushing for annual Disney trips....gotta have something to look forward to! Our days are long but we wouldn't trade them for anything.

Love,
The Novas

Clothes: 3-6 month or 6 month clothes already!

Max Johan Nova

Sweet baby Max is here! Get ready for photo overload! Max arrived on Thursday May 19th about 4 days past his due date. Apparently his due date was the 15th and NOT the 16th...whoops, ultimate mommy brain. I'll give a brief synopsis of the birth story and then I'll just post alllllllllll the pics!!

Max in the hospital with Will

Okay so after my doctor promised be I wouldn't even reach my due date I was finally wait-listed to be induced 4 days AFTER my due date. Woof. And yes, you can be wait-listed to have a baby...WTF?? Thursday morning we got the call to be at the hospital by 10:00am. Mimsy/Peema came up to watch Jameson and she stayed home from school that day. We got to the hospital and got hooked up to an IV (probably the worst part of the whole thing...blew out 2 veins and couldn't use my right hand for a day). They started me on Pitocin at about 11:45am and then Dr. H came in and broke my water. I got my epidural around 2pm. Sooo since my contractions weren't nearly as bad as they were the first time...the epidural was NOT pleasant. I was way more coherent (not crying and barfing like last time)this time around and was super conscious of the needle going into my back. That being said, I had to have it placed twice because I jumped the first time. The anesthesiologist made sure I knew that I could have easily paralyzed myself by doing that...thanks doc!

Okay moving on...I don't even know what time I started pushing but this time my doctor was there the entire time! I was so surprised and confused! Anyway I pushed awhile and it was the general concensus that this baby was going to be "big". I don't know how much time elapsed but all the sudden there were like 8 nurses in the room prepping for the baby. After literally working as hard as I ever have...they let me know I only had a few pushes left and he would be here. I push one more time and all the sudden the tone of the room changed. I could tell in my doc's face that something wasn't quite right...but she didn't seem worried. They mumbled medical stuff and then 3 nurses jumped on me and one pushed Will out of the way and started laying on my stomach and everyone was really encouraging me to push. I felt like I had to get him out right then. One more big push and I thought I did it and then I was very firmly told to STOP PUSHING. I immediately panicked on the inside and then everyone rushed around and he finally came out. But he wasn't crying...he was a little grey and HUGE. I kept asking if he was fine and they said he's fine but he still wasn't crying. I swear he didn't make a noise for 5 mins. They suctioned him A LOT and kept telling me he was huge but I didn't hold him for over 10-15 mins. After he finally made a noise they told me he was "stuck" on my pelvic bone (barf). His shoulder was stuck and I guess that is why the ladies jumped on me. I don't even know. I didn't ask questions. I just wanted to hold him. Finally, we held him and they told us he was 9LBS 10.5OZS and 21.5". Whoooooooooooooa. Thank goodness I got induced. Holy baby chunk!

Baby Max on our first day home!
oh man, my favorite picture forever

tickle tickle, Max!

our photographer was soooo nice. Jameson couldn't make it to the hospital on the day we had photos because she got sick. She offered to come to our house the next day and get some pictures with Jameson. Thank goodness because these are just the best pictures I could have asked for.

all his bandaids from being pricked over and over and over :(

year 2 1/2

My angel princess is 2.5 years old...going on 15. I started writing this before Max was born and now fast forward to Max being a month old...whoopsies!
Jameson has changed so much this past year that I can barely remember everything. BUT, what I do remember are her hilarious little sayings and quirks. So, here are my favorite stories and memories from the past 7 months or so.

Starting in January Jameson began getting bad ear infections. So bad that we were in and out of the doctors office close to 10 times in 3 months. She wasn't responding to oral antibiotics so she was getting a series of shots in her legs (3 sets of shots 3 separate times :(). Sooo, by March we were scheduled for tubes. It was the most nervous I had been in a looooong time. I knew it was supposed to be a quick procedure but her going under anesthesia terrified me. thankfully, once they gave her some "silly juice" she was hilarious and cuter than ever...just in time for them to whisk her away to surgery. By the time we got back to the waiting room and I used the restroom they were coming to tell us she was already in recovery and everything went fine. All this to show you a cute video and explain her newest phrase that has me silent laughing every time she says it!
at the library distracting her before our tubes consultation. she didn't touch a single book...haha!

From that day on I would always ask..."how do your ears feel?" and she always replied, "GRAPES!". I've noticed she doesn't enunciate her Ts very well but this was just too much for me. I thought maybe it was a once or twice thing but she says it all the time now. It's hands down my favorite thing.

day after surgery. being an angel as usual.
Along with tubes we started soccer practice in March. HILARIOUS. The first practice was amazing. She showed up in her Man U gear and nailed every drill. Next practice...bad but not too bad. We missed her 3rd practice due to having tubes put in that day but the 4th practice was awful. She didn't participate in a single drill and played in the grass by herself or with Will. Most of the time she was naughty and picked up cones she wasn't supposed to. Will and I spent the whole 45 mins chasing her. Gradually she would participate...she only wanted to join in if "pennies" were involved. She liked being a Gray Shark...diva. Fast forward to the last practice. This baby decided to do the whole practice and ace every drill. She was holding out on us. I couldn't stop laughing. She is definitely my child.
after practice playing with our sidewalk chalk. yes, she practiced in that outfit.

Anyway here are a list of "Jameson-isms":

"Mommy I need my swim-soups for water day!"

If someone is "yelling" or talking loudly she will tell them to "scream it outside"...I'm assuming her teachers at school tell her to use her inside voice vs. her inside voice.

When Jameson is being silly or loud I always say "whoa you're crazy!" and recently she started responding with "NO, I not cwwwwaaaaazy". Haaaaa!

Everything is always PINK. "What's your favorite song?"...."PINK"..."What do you want to eat?"..."ummmm PINK?".

There are one million more things she says and does that are so cute and adorable but I couldn't possibly document them all. Stay tuned for more!

also...

and in case you aren't my friend on Instagram...you probably missed this:

Jameson is going to be a big sister to a BROTHER in May! Obvi she is beyond thrilled :)

This has been a crazy 5 months for us! And yes, I crammed 4 of those months into 3 blog posts mostly filled with pictures. Let's be honest...pictures are the best part of any blog. I meant to document this pregnancy just like the first but my days are too long and too short at the same time. This pregnancy I have to actually check my app on my phone to tell me what week I'm in. My how things have changed! I have a couple of pictures I managed to take so far and I'll do some quick facts in case I ever feel like referencing this page for sooooooooooooome crazy reason again ;)

From top left clockwise: 15 weeks, 17 weeks, 20 weeks, and 22 weeks

Total weight gain:   I swore I would do better this time but I'm up 16lbs...keep in mind I was already 10lbs over my pre-Jameson-pregnancy.
Maternity clothes?  Oh yea, started those around 10 weeks...waited until about 15-16 weeks to tell work this time but I don't think I was fooling anybody for the last 3 of those weeks haha.

Sleep:  No. Tossing and turning all night every night.

Best moment this week: Finally feeling more frequent movement. I have an anterior placenta this time so movement is muffled and really really low!

Movement:  See above note! Already freaked out about minimal movement so I'm ready to feel steady movement throughout the day...but I'm sure it will be all night and early morning just like with Jameson!

Food cravings: No real cravings so far. Just super thirsty!

Anything making you queasy or sick:  I had medium nausea in the 1st trimester which luckily subsided around week 15! Pizza and most red sauces give me reflux just like last time.

Gender: A BOY!

Symptoms:  Lower back pain is in full force this time! I'm sure carrying around a 2 year old has nothing to do with that....

Happy or Moody most of the time: Ha! No comment.

the holidays

Here are more photos of the last few holidays! I'll start with Halloween and let the pictures do the talking :)

these two were mostly angels. cruising around the hood in a wagon...doesn't get better than that.

adorable kitten, crazy cat lady, and crazy lady dressed as a cat....jk Mom

this photo pretty much sums up the holiday break....

year two

2!!! Baby James is 2. I haven't posted in so long that I don't even know where I left off. This toddler is such a big girl and I can't think where to start! She learns something new everyday. She is currently in the "Two's" class at school. She started this class earlier than I thought she would, but she fits in with everyone so well. I always think she is so much younger but really she is just small :). She talks about all her friends in her class and especially loves Ms. Achilene and Ms. Kattie. These teachers are so sweet to her and treat her like the princess she is. The whole daycare still calls her Princess when they greet her. It's my favorite thing. I was recently told that she was given timeout for the first time since before August. I know this baby, and she earns timeout multiple times a day at our house so I know she is completely spoiled at school. Anyway I have some pictures that I think completely explain her personality. Here are some pictures from her 2nd birthday party:

**Sooo side note to all these pictures....I could only get a few off my camera becaaaaaaaaause the weekend after her birthday I backed my car over my entire purse...which happened to have my camera in it. (Mega eye roll). Don't even ask me how this happened....**

Here are some of her stats...2 year olds are all over the place!
2 year old likes
Having her hair braided
"Bebe" dolls
All her uncles
Ms. Achilene and Ms. Kattie
Rain boots
Babas (we have to quit these soon)
Showers
Mittens (calls them minutes)
The moon
Kitties
Telling me when to go at stop lights
"Eyes" (sunglasses)
Ornaments
To be carried ("I carry you, Mommy?")
"see it mommy" when she sees Christmas lights
Calling herself Jamie

2 year old dislikes
Sharing
Sleeping in her own bed the whole night
Baths
Sun in her eyes
Her cousin Lily (jk she just doesn't share well)
Pooping in the shower (long story but she was terrified)

She has so many little phrases she says all the time. It's honestly too cute sometimes. Her newest thing is instead of just saying "no", it's a full on "NO WAY MOMMY". She has even woken up in her sleep saying that after nightmares. She also go her first "naughty report" from school. I seriously almost cried. Thankfully the teacher was talking to another parent so I just got Jamie and we ran out of there. I was genuinely upset. When I asked her about it she got upset too! We will be a mess during the teenage years.
Since I took so long to post this time I added some special bonus family time pics! See below:

she knows she's adorable
